Appalachian National Scenic Trail

  Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a long drive away from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown but it's one of those places where hiking is great. Camping is available at Camp Discovery; you're sure to come across some great people from Lake Peekskill here. Why not camp at National Camp Assn since you're here at Appalachian National Scenic Trail. A day at Old Sebago Beach right next door to Appalachian National Scenic Trail is time well spent, and hey, West
    Branch Canopus Creek is a great local stream. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Penlolopen Brook, and swing by West Branch Canopus Creek it's a great site to check out. Hudson Highlands State Park is a good site to stretch your legs
a bit, and a delightful beach close by is New Sebago Beach. This place is unbeatable, just explore all the fun things to do near Appalachian National Scenic Trail. Soar down the rapids of Fish Kill River in a kayak. Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a wet place that gets lots of rain. The month with most of the rain is May, and the driest month of the year is February. Summertime at Appalachian National Scenic Trail comes with high temperatures in the 70's. Once  
the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. For the period of the winter the highs are mostly in the 30's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Appalachian National Scenic Trail temperatures drop to the 10's.
