  It's a long drive from New York-Newark-Edison to Kakiat Trail but hiking it is great fun any time. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Ramapo River, and if you want to hit the beach, Old Sebago Beach is in the vicinity. Through the days of summer highs here at Kakiat Trail get into the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Kakiat Trail temperatures dip to the 10's.
    Stay the night at Baker Camp On Lake Sebago, and Pine Meadow Brook is one of the streams close by that might be worth going to. Kakiat Trail is a quite wet place ordinarily with a good deal of rain; May is when you get the most rain here, and February is the month with the least
moisture. There's some flowing water nearby, Diamond Creek is a stream you can take a look at while here, and on a fine day it's a great idea to spend the day at New Sebago Beach.
You just can't envision the amount of outdoors amusing things the area in the vicinity of Kakiat Trail has to offer. New York is a good place for outdoors people. There's so much to do here at Kakiat Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Camp wabenaki is a glorious site for that, and there's whitewater on Popolopen Creek for all you adrenaline rush seekers.
