It is a great warm up for the bigger mountains of the Adirondacks. It takes about an hour to get up and the viewsare great. This is a great hike if you     have kids and want to get them out into the fresh air Says Derek Please include specific directions to the trail head.  Silver lake mountain trail head is found on Silver lake Road, which intersects with NY Route 3 about 23 miles west of Plattsburgh [near Clayburg]. Go south on Silver Lake Road for about 10 miles, find the marked trailhead on the left side of the road.  This is a short somewhat steep hike with a beautiful view from the top.  Well worth the effort. Says Jennifer Silver Lake Mt. is a glorious hike. Its not too difficult for the amateur hikers and has a few trails off to the side that are a bit more difficult and fun for the experienced hikers. Its   a great place for a family or business day retreat and provides phenomenal views of the North Countries natural beauty. Enjoy the trail but remember to keep it clean and well maintained. A little effort can go a long way...
