Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Adirondack Mountains. Getting to Deer Brook from Southside Trail is painless, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Ausable River - East Branch. Throughout the long summer days, highs usually are in the 70's at Southside Trail; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout the wintertime highs are frequently in the 20's, and after the sun is down throughout
| the winter temperatures at Southside Trail dip into the 0's. Southside Trail is a good place of common rain; August is when you get the most rain here; February meanwhile is the driest month.
Camping is available at Lake Placid/Whiteface MT KOA, and Southside Trail is near Railroad Notch which is without doubt worth stopping at. If you come at the right time of year, John's Brook offers some great whitewater. Many miles from the nearest city you have Southside Trail and it is a great escape from the city.

a good time for sure. Take a little journey to Rock Cut Brook since you're here at Southside Trail, and camping at High Peaks Base Camp is always a wonderful experience.
