| | Hiking here in New York is a must. Hitting the trails is always a fun thing to do and if you happen to be in Herkimer County of New York, Twin Lakes Trail is a great local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. You'll have to go far from Utica-Rome to get to Twin Lakes Trail but it is a great escape from the city. There are many hiking trails in the Adirondack Mountains where beautiful scenery awaits you.
Twin Lakes Trail is a relatively wet place commonly with much rainfall; August is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months |
is February. Take a little spree to South Branch Black River while you're here at Twin Lakes Trail. There's whitewater on Black River - South Branch for all you adrenaline people, and camping is available at Trails End.
There's no way someone can get bored here in the Adirondack
| Mountains. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Black River; if you came for an overnight stay Adirondack Gateway Campground is a nice spot to camp. Summertime highs at Twin Lakes Trail ordinarily tend to be in the 70's, and the overnight is slightly cooler of course, typically in the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Twin Lakes Trail temperatures plunge to the 0's.
