| | There are many hiking trails in the Ouachita Mountains where wonderful nature is waiting for you. Clayton Trail is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Indian Mounds Camp is a splendid local campground, and get covered with water paddling on Little River.
You can't spend all your time indoors you need to get out once in a while and if you happen to be in Pushmataha County of Oklahoma, Clayton Trail is a great local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors enjoyable things the Ouachita Mountains |
has to offer. A splendid place to camp here at Clayton Trail is Sardis Lake Campground, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Rocky Creek. Oklahoma is a good place for outdoors people.
Lots of rainfall falls at Clayton Trail; the month of May is the wettest with most of the
| rain, and the driest month of the year is January. Clayton Trail is a very long way away from civilization and hiking along this trail is very enjoyable. Throughout the warmest time of the year at Clayton Trail highs are frequently in the 90's while night lows are regularly in the 60's. During the winter highs are frequently in the 50's with temperatures at Clayton Trail dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights.
