  It's a long drive from State College to Big Sandy Trail but when you spend some time hiking here you will feel like a whole new person. If you come at the right time of year, Black Moshannon Creek offers some wonderful whitewater. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Big Sandy Trail has to offer, you can camp at Snow Shoe Park. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Moshannon River, and Holt Hollow is another fine spot to stop by nearby. The wonderful
    folks of Karthaus like to hang out close by. There's so much to do here at Big Sandy Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Kettle Creek State Park is a magnificent spot for that. Places like Sinnemahoning State Park are perfect
to stop by. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Big Sandy Trail while night lows are generally in the 50's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 20's; night lows in the 10's for Big Sandy Trail. Big Sandy Trail is a wet place that gets a great deal of rain. The month with most of the rain is June; the driest month is January.
