  You'll have to go far from State College to get to Commissioner Run Trail but many people like to hike here to be close to nature. If you are in Pennsylvania during hiking season you have to go hiking. This is such a fun river. Commissioners Run is a lovely stream that is worth visiting, and Buckhorn Hollow is without doubt a splendid spot to go to. Whitewater paddling is wonderful on Moshannon River, and camping at Commissioner Run Trail is fine fun, Austin Campground is a fine local campground.
If you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always
    go whitewater paddling on Cross Fork. Why not pop by close by Mill Run since you're here at Commissioner Run Trail, and Snow Shoe Park is a great campground here. Commissioner Run Trail ordinarily gets a great deal of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is June; the
driest of the months is January.
The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Commissioner Run Trail. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 20's while Commissioner Run Trail overnight low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the 10's.
