This part of Pennsylvania is always a pleasure to visit during hiking season. Lots of folks from State College come to Dead Horse Trail; in case you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Black Moshannon Creek. All the water falling down from the sky makes Dead Horse Trail a wet location; most of the rain falls through June while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
There's so much to do here at Dead Horse Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Snow Shoe Park is a wonderful place for
that, and a good place for whitewater paddling is Moshannon River.
Dead Horse Trail is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Kettle Creek State Park is a perfect local campground, and since you're here, you might as well take a look at Holt Hollow. Through the summer
months at Dead Horse Trail highs are commonly in the 70's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Dead Horse Trail.
