| | A long drive separates Johnstown from Lost Turkey Trail, but hiking along this trail is very enjoyable. Lost Turkey Trail frequently gets a large amount of rain; July is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is October. This is a popular place for people from Johnstown, and Woodland Park is a delightful campground here.
Babcock Creek flows through this area, and there are some good whitewater spots on Clear Shade Creek. Summertime highs at Lost Turkey Trail usually tend to be in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's regularly |
in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and night lows at Lost Turkey Trail during the winter ordinarily drop into the 10's.
Stay the night at Shawnee Sleepy Hollow Campground; whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Roaring Fork.
