| | It's a long drive from Willimantic to Walkabout Trail but hiking is such a fun thing to do and this is a great place to do that. Finally, hiking time is here again, and Walkabout Trail in Providence County, Rhode Island is just the place. Some nice nature is available in George Washington Memorial State Forest. There's so much to do here at Walkabout Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Buck Hill Family Campground is a fine location for that. So many enjoyable things near Walkabout Trail, definitely impressive.
Whitewater paddling is glorious |
on Clear and Branch, and if you're visiting from Willimantic, you won't be the only one. Get soaked paddling on Quinebaug River, and if time allows, Quinebaug & Shetucket Rivers Valley National Heritage Corridor is a national park worth taking a look at.

| down from the sky makes Walkabout Trail a wet place; the month with most of the rain is November, and the driest month is February. All through the summer here at Walkabout Trail, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 80's; the overnight is fairly chillier of course, usually in the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's, and overnight lows throughout the winter for Walkabout Trail tend to be in the 10's. Stay the night at Bowdish Lake Camping Area, and the scenery at Bowdish Reservoir Dam is gorgeous.
