  There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains where beautiful scenery awaits you. Many miles from the nearest city you have Island Trail and it is a fun place to hike for the whole family. If you haven’t been to Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area, you should schedule some time for it if you're here, and don't forget to take a brilliant little visit to Watson Branch. Island Trail is a reasonably wet place commonly with a large amount of rain; through December this area sees the most rain, and October is the month with
    the least moisture.
Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Pine Creek. Throughout the summertime at Island Trail temperatures are usually in the 80's, and the night is somewhat cooler of course, mostly in the 60's. Through the wintertime
highs are typically in the 40's; night lows through the winter for Island Trail tend to be in the 20's.
Spending too much time indoors got you down? No problem, Island Trail in Pickett County, Tennessee is just the place. These mountains rock, just explore all the amusing things to do in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. A good spot to camp here at Island Trail is Charit Creek Campground; there are some good whitewater spots on North White Oak Creek. Camping at Saddle Valley Campground is always a glorious experience, and as expected Natural Bridge Creek is a beautiful stream that is worth stopping at.
