It's a long drive from Johnson City to Pinnacle Tower Trail but trails like these are great. Summertime highs at Pinnacle Tower Trail regularly tend to be in the 80's, and the overnight is rather colder of course, typically in the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Pinnacle Tower Trail.

Tower Trail is a relatively wet place generally with a large amount of precipitation; through July this area sees the most rain while October is mostly the driest month. There are some great whitewater spots on Nolichucky River; you can stay the night at North Indian Creek Campground.
| At Pinnacle Tower Trail you always meet someone from Johnson City, and Bristol Campground and Event Parking is a wonderful campground here. Scioto Creek flows through this area, and if you come at the right time of year, Nolichucky River offers some wonderful whitewater. There's some flowing water close by, Scioto Creek is a stream you can explore while here, and a tremendous location to have a look at is Horse Cove Gap.
