| | Smith Mountain Trail is not very near Athens at all but many people like to hike here to be close to nature. As long as you like the outdoors you will like Tennessee. So much exciting stuff to do here in the Great Smoky Mountains, too nice to be true. If you come at the right time of year, Wolf Creek offers some splendid whitewater, and if you came for an overnight stay Cuddle Up Cabin Rentals is a good place to camp. Little Branch is a stream that you may encounter while here, and during your visit here you'll meet some folks from Athens for sure.

You believe that's enough? Just getting warmed up. There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Great Smoky Mountains where beautiful scenery awaits you. All through the warm days of summer, highs typically are in the 80's at Smith Mountain Trail. Summer night lows fall down to
| the 60's. All through the winter highs are frequently in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Smith Mountain Trail sink into the 20's.
Get yourself into a kayak and hit Hiwassee River; Coker Creek Village is a pleasant campground nearby. Coker Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth a visit; a nice location to visit close by is Kirkland Gap.
