This is a really good river. Whitewater paddling is fine on French Broad, and folks from Newport love to come here. During the days of summer at Tweed Trail highs are generally in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. Highs all through the wintertime are commonly in the 40's while Tweed Trail nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's. If you came for an overnight stay Houston Valley Campground is a tremendous location to camp; nearby Mill Rock Hollow is a splendid place to go.
