if you come at the right time of year, Coon Creek offers some delightful whitewater. Willis Branch flows through this vicinity, and a journey to Walled Spring will fill your soul with wonderful feelings.

| whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Big Fiery Gizzard Creek. While you're here at Winding Stairs you will meet lots of folks from nearby Scottsboro. Looking for a perfect tour? Russell Cave National Monument is relatively in the vicinity of Winding Stairs, and Barnes Point is very near and is a fine place to stop by.
Through the warm months at Winding Stairs temperatures are usually in the 80's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 60's. During the winter highs are ordinarily in the 40's, and night lows at Winding Stairs throughout the wintertime commonly fall into the 20's. | |
