| | Missing Hiker - Uintas Highline Trail Says Missing Hiker
The U.S. Forrest Service last attention to this trail was in 1994/1995 and the trail markings in many places is all but non-existent. Portions of the trail---particularly in the meadows areas have been overgrown and rock cairn markers, where they do exist, are often overgrown and difficult to find. Do not attempt this trail without detailed terrain maps and GPS equipment and the ability to use both. |
It would also be a good idea to carry a satellite phone (rentals are available) as there is no cell phone signal anywhere along the route from the Mirror Lake trailhead on the West all the way to the Chepeta lake trailhead on the

In the Uinta Mountains there are many great hiking trails, it's a great hiking area. If you are in Utah during hiking season you have to go hiking. Highline Trail is located quite a long drive from Evanston but when you hike it you're always having a good time. spend more than a day at, Butterfly Campground is a wonderful local campground. You can run the rapids of Duchesne River in the neighborhood of Highline Trail; if you came to camp Highline Trail Head Campground is a great place to do that.
