Balcony Falls Trail   Actually the trail derives it's name from two sources. The magnificent view of a set of rapids on the James River known as Balcony Falls; but in addition, the original trail, which slowly descends to the River ending near the rapids, does in fact end at a water fall made up from Big Cove Branch. The trail has been abandoned, but treads still remain and it is well worth the hike. Says David Bice There is NO WATERFALL at the end, or the middle or the     beginning of Balcony FALLS Trail. If you are not interested in waterfalls, then the trail is beautiful, and the climb is invigorating. It makes a good day trip from the city.
