| | Spending too much time indoors got you down? No problem, Bearpen Trail in Grayson County, Virginia is a perfect place for getting out. A long drive separates Boone from Bearpen Trail, but hiking along this trail is very enjoyable. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend New River - South Fork, and some of the water nearby flows, like Little Wilson Creek. Bearpen Trail sees pretty high levels of rainfall; July is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is November.
Near Bearpen Trail you stumble |
on Rocky Hollow which is a wonderful spot to stop by. A tremendous place to camp here at Bearpen Trail is Hurricane Campground; if you come at the right time of year, Big Wilson Creek offers some wonderful whitewater.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains.
| Camping at Grayson Highlands State Park is always a nice experience; hey, Wilburn Branch is a wonderful local stream. There are many hiking trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains where wonderful nature is waiting for you. At Bearpen Trail through the long summer days highs are in the 80's while nighttime lows are mostly in the 50's. All through the winter highs are commonly in the 40's; nighttime lows in the 20's for Bearpen Trail.
While visiting this area in Virginia it's a good idea to go hiking too. | |
