  Fort Lewis Trail is a trail quite far from Staunton-Waynesboro but when you spend some time hiking here you will feel like a whole new person. If you fancy a little side trip, try Foxtail Hollow, and get your heart pumping on the tremendous whitewater of Mill Creek. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Fort Lewis Trail has to offer, you can camp at Bear Mountain Farm and Wilderness Retreat. There's whitewater on Bullpasture River for all you adrenaline
    junkies, and while you're here you will meet lots of folks from nearby Williamsville. Stay the night at Virginia Power; you absolutely must stop by Douthat State Park since you're here. Fort Lewis Trail is a relatively wet place regularly
with much rainfall. The month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and December is the month with the least moisture. Through the summertime here at Fort Lewis Trail, high temperatures typically get into the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Highs during the winter are ordinarily in the 30's with temperatures at Fort Lewis Trail dipping down into the 10's all through winter nights.
