  We all need to get out in nature once in a while and Gap Trail in Shenandoah County, Virginia is the outdoors at it's best. If you are in Virginia during hiking season you have to go hiking. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool things in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Glide down the rapids of Stony Creek - North fork Shenandoah Tributary in a kayak, and camping is available at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Camp.
If you come at the right time of year, Shenandoah River - South Fork offers some glorious whitewater. A long drive separates Harrisonburg from Gap
    Trail, but it's one of those places where hiking is great. Visiting Shenandoah National Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet, and don't leave Gap Trail without first paying a visit to Hiden Spring.
There are many hiking trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains
where beautiful scenery awaits you. The annual precipitation here at Gap Trail is about average; May is the wettest month with most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. If you're here, you might as well pop by Scothorn Gap, and why not camp at Fort Valley Stable's Horse and Mule Campground if you're here at Gap Trail.
Summertime highs at Gap Trail mostly tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and nighttime lows throughout the winter for Gap Trail tend to be in the 10's.
