| | High Meadows Trail is a long drive away from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria but it is a good trail. Camp Five Dam is worth checking out since you're here. You'll need more than a day to explore everything High Meadows Trail has to offer, you can camp at Turkey Run Ridge Campground. There's so much to do here at High Meadows Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Oak Ridge Campground is a splendid spot for that.
Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Quantico Creek, and a quick spree to Mary Bird Branch is |

definitely a glorious idea. For the duration of the summer months highs here at High Meadows Trail get into the 80's. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 60's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to High
| Meadows Trail. The high level of precipitation makes High Meadows Trail a rather wet location; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
There are some great whitewater spots on Quantico Creek - South Branch; dropping by Prince William Forest Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. | |
