Jackson Trail

  We all need to get out in nature once in a while and Jackson Trail in Alleghany County, Virginia is a great place to go. A visit to Virginia is not complete without some hiking. It's a long drive from Roanoke to Jackson Trail but when you hike it you're always having a good time. Float down the rapids of Jackson River in a kayak; lots of folks from Covington come here. Douthat State Park is a splendid spot, and Lake Sherwood Campground is a great local campground.
    Get yourself into a kayak and hit Ogle Creek, and why not camp at Bolar Mountain Campground while you're here at Jackson Trail. Dry Run flows through this neighborhood, and a good site is May Hollow. This site is excellent, just look
at all the enjoyable things to do in the vicinity of Jackson Trail. For the duration of the days of summer at Jackson Trail highs are usually in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Jackson Trail plunge into the 10's. Jackson Trail mostly gets lots of rainfall. July is the month that gets the most rain, and February is when it's the driest.
