If you came to camp Hurricane Campground is a great spot to do that; needless to say Grindstone Branch flows through this vicinity. There's so much to do here at Mount Rogers Spur that you need to camp here for a while, Wilderness Trail is a tremendous site for that, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Big Wilson Creek. There are some pleasant whitewater spots on Green Cove Creek, and nearby you come across Deep Gap which is a glorious place to take     a look at. Mount Rogers Spur sees pretty high levels of precipitation; July is the month that gets the most rain, and November is when it's the driest.
