Pretty far from Boone you find Mount Rogers Trail but it is one of many great trails in this area. When was the last time you got out in nature a bit? Mount Rogers Trail in Smyth County, Virginia is the outdoors at it's best. Some of the water nearby flows, like Grindstone Branch, and you can stay the night at Hurricane Campground.
Coming to this river is always a good idea. Lewis Fork is a brilliant spot to stop by, and close by you hit upon Hurricane Gap which is a perfect place to take a look at. All the water falling down from the sky makes Mount
Rogers Trail a wet site; the month with most of the rain is July, and November is the month with the least moisture. If you come at the right time of year, Big Wilson Creek offers some great whitewater.
Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend
Green Cove Creek. There's so much to do here at Mount Rogers Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Hungry Mother State Park is a great site for that.
