| | Saddleback Mountain Trail is a long drive away from Charlottesville but hiking it is always fun. This part of Virginia is always a pleasure to visit during hiking season. The annual rainfall here at Saddleback Mountain Trail is about average; most of the rain falls during August, and the driest month of the year is January. For the period of the warm days of summer highs here at Saddleback Mountain Trail get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's, and after the sun is down through the winter |
temperatures at Saddleback Mountain Trail descend into the 20's. A short tour to South River Falls is always worthwhile, and while you're here, you might as well stop at Dean Mountain Gap. If you came to camp Lewis Mountain Campground is a tremendous place to do that, and get
| yourself into a kayak and hit South River - Rapidan Tributary. Camping at Swift Run Campground is always a pleasant experience; Dry Run Falls is an inspiring place to pop by while you're here. Shenandoah National Park is a very good place to pop by next to Saddleback Mountain Trail, and there are some great whitewater spots on Roach River. This is no place for people who don’t like to have fun. Some close by water includes Gum Spring Branch, and Raven Cliff Branch is in the neighborhood of Saddleback Mountain Trail and is always a pleasure to stop by. | |
