| | Ok, you've been cooped up too long, time to get out in nature a bit and Scales Trail in Grayson County, Virginia is a good choice. Big Wilson Creek is a wonderful site to have a look at; you can run the rapids of New River - South Fork. During the summertime months highs here at Scales Trail get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Scales Trail are in the 20's.

Trail is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Hurricane Campground is a tremendous local campground, and a magnificent site is Massie Gap. Take a side tour to Quebec Branch. The high level of rainfall makes Scales Trail a pretty wet place; the month with most of the rain

There are many hiking trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains, it's a great hiking area. That right there is lots of enjoyable things already but it goes on, the Blue Ridge Mountains has it all. A glorious place to camp here at Scales Trail is Grayson Highlands State Park, and get your heart beating on the perfect whitewater of Big Wilson Creek. Scales Trail is a trail quite far from Boone but it is a fun place to hike for the whole family.
