| | Shillings Trail is a long drive away from Staunton-Waynesboro but it is a really good trail. If you're here, you might as well stop at Chapin Draft, and Walnut Hills Campground is a great campground here. Through the months of summer at Shillings Trail highs are mostly in the 70's; the night is rather chillier of course, ordinarily in the 50's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Shillings Trail fall into the 10's.

more exciting stuff to do here at Shillings Trail. This is such a fun river. Whitewater paddling is fine on Jennings Branch; let's not forget Fall Branch which is a stream that you may encounter while you're here. Shillings Trail gets a normal amount of rain; all through the month
| of July you get the most rain around here, and February on the other hand is the driest.
With so many outdoors activities available in Virginia you'll never get bored. In the event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Calfpasture River, and obviously Elliott Springs Run flows through this vicinity. You're sure to run into some fine people from Staunton-Waynesboro here, and if you came for an overnight stay North River Campground is a nice site to camp.
