Middle Branch Chopawamsic Creek is a striking stream that is worth taking a look at, and whitewater paddling is great on Quantico Creek - South Branch. South Valley Trail is a splendid place to camp, Oak Ridge Campground is a splendid place, and Prince William Forest Park is a
| nice place nearby. During the days of summer at South Valley Trail temperatures are generally in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 60's. All through the winter highs are commonly in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at South Valley Trail drop into the 20's. South Valley Trail usually gets much rain; August is when you get the most rain here, and January is when it's the driest. South Valley Trail is a trail quite far from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria but when you spend some time hiking here you will feel like a whole new person.
