  While visiting this area in Virginia it's a good idea to go hiking too. Pretty far from Winchester you find Stony Creek Trail but it's one of those places where hiking is great. Trout Run is a great whitewater spot in close proximity to Stony Creek Trail, and camping at Trout Pond Campground is always a fine experience. Finally, hiking time is here again, and Stony Creek Trail in Shenandoah County, Virginia is the outdoors at it's best.
The warmest time of the year at Stony Creek Trail comes with high temperatures in the 80's while night lows are
    mostly in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Stony Creek Trail temperatures drop to the 10's. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors entertaining things the area near Stony Creek Trail has to offer. In case
you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Stony Creek - North fork Shenandoah Tributary; Sandstone Spring is a nice local attraction.
All our national parks are perfect sites to stop at, and Shenandoah National Park is no exception, and of course Mill Creek flows through this neighborhood. Stony Creek Trail is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Big Stony Family Campgrounds is a delightful local campground, and there's some flowing water nearby, Spruce Run is a stream you can stop at while you're here.
