| | In the Blue Ridge Mountains there are many great hiking trails, there's no better way to enjoy these mountains. Switchback Trail gets a lot of water; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain while November is the month with the least amount of precipitation. At Switchback Trail through the summertime highs are in the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Switchback Trail are in the 20's.

Switchback Trail is in a quite desolate area and It's always fun to hike here. Stay the night at Hurricane Campground, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Big Wilson Creek. If you come at the right time of year, New River - South Fork offers some glorious whitewater.
Solomon Branch is a brilliant place to pop by, and if you wish for a little side journey, try Fairwood Valley. | |
