A visit to Virginia is not complete without some hiking. In the Blue Ridge Mountains there are many great hiking trails where you can absorb the beauty of these mountains. For the period of the months of summer here at Wildcat Trail, high temperatures regularly reach the 80's with night lows in the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are commonly in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Wildcat Trail.
Camping at Colon Hollow Shelter Campground is always a wonderful experience; let's not forget Cornelius Creek which is a stream that
you may stumble upon while you're here. There's whitewater on Jennings Creek for all you thrill seekers, and if you came to camp Smith Tract Campground is a good spot to do that. Time to get out and breathe some fresh air, and if you happen to be in Botetourt County of Virginia,
Wildcat Trail is a great local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching.
There are some glorious whitewater spots on North Creek. So much cool stuff to do here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, too fine to be true. A magnificent site right next door to Wildcat Trail is Bear Hollow, and there's always Cave Mountain Dam to pop by right next door to Wildcat Trail. You'll have to go far from Lynchburg to get to Wildcat Trail but you always have a good time when you're hiking along it.
All the water falling down from the sky makes Wildcat Trail a wet site; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is when it's the driest.
