  You'll have to go far from Rutland to get to Canty Trail but if you're looking for a good place to go hiking this is a good choice. In Vermont you never run out of outdoors fun. Canty Trail gets a typical amount of annual rain; most of the rain falls through August while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. During the summertime here at Canty Trail, high temperatures usually get into the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's, and through the dark hours
    in the wintertime at Canty Trail temperatures plunge to the 0's.
Spending too much time indoors got you down? No problem, Canty Trail in Rutland County, Vermont is just the place. There's so much to do here at Canty Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Night Eagle
Wilderness is a wonderful site for that; there's some out of the ordinary stuff to make out at Lefferts Dam in the vicinity of Canty Trail. If you come at the right time of year, Mill River offers some magnificent whitewater; whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Clarendon River.
There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Green Mountains where wonderful nature is waiting for you. If only every location had this much outdoors entertaining stuff, what a great globe it would be.
There's no way somebody
 
can get bored here in the Green Mountains. Stay the night at Hapgood Pond - Green Mountain National Forest; you're sure to come across some good folks from Rutland here. There's some flowing water nearby, Brewers Brook is a stream you can pop by during your stay; a wooded area nearby is Rutland City Forest.
