  Because Span Oak Trail is very far from civilization hiking it is great fun any time. No chance of getting bored in West Virginia if you like the outdoors. During the warmest time of the year at Span Oak Trail temperatures are usually in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs during the winter are frequently in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Span Oak Trail temperatures sink to the 10's. This river has so much to offer. There's so much to do here at Span Oak Trail that you need to camp here for a while,
    Little River Campground is a great site for that, and drift down the rapids of Greenbrier River - East Fork in a kayak.
Span Oak Trail is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Island Campground is a magnificent local campground; why not a little side tour to Clubhouse
Run. Span Oak Run is a brilliant local stream, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Greenbrier River - West Fork.
Span Oak Trail gets a good deal of water; most of the rain falls during July, and the driest of the months is February.
