It's a long drive from Oak Hill to Way Back Trail but trails like these are great. Way Back Trail is a tremendous spot to visit for more than one day, Madd Jack's Campground is a tremendous spot to camp nearby, and some close by water includes Jerry Fork. With so many outdoors activities available in West Virginia you'll never get bored.

When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 60's. Highs during the wintertime are commonly in the 40's, and overnight lows at Way Back Trail all through the wintertime usually drop into the 20's. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we
| recommend Gauley River. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Way Back Trail has to offer, you can camp at Mountain Lake Campground. Here at Way Back Trail there are plenty of people from Oak Hill.
Way Back Trail frequently gets a lot of precipitation; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while February is frequently the driest month. Do stop at Dillys Mill Boy Scout Camp Lake Dam while you're here at Way Back Trail, and Jones Branch is one of the streams close by that might be worth visiting. | |
