In four days four of us caught 13 fish over 20 inches and 27 fish overall, none of which were less than 14 inches. Campsites are plentiful and established. Great views of other mountain lakes beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The trail is very nice and well marked the entire way. All the climbing is worth every minute once you see the lake.
Mike:
Ross Lake wasn't worth the trip. Horrible fishing and rough trail. I'd recommend other destinations over Ross Lake. Lots of the forest in the area has burned and is not very scenic.

| | Far from civilization you find Ross Lake Trail and hiking it is always fun. Time to get out and breathe some fresh air, and Ross Lake Trail in Fremont County, Wyoming is such a great place. Ross Lake Trail gets very little precipitation; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is February. All through the summer here at Ross Lake Trail, high temperatures usually get into the 80's, and the overnight is rather cooler of course, frequently in the 40's. Through the winter highs are frequently in the 30's, and throughout |
the dark hours in the winter at Ross Lake Trail temperatures plunge to the 10's.
There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Wind River Range where wonderful nature is waiting for you. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Wind River Range. In case you don’t
| have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Wind River - East Fork; Circle Up Camper Court Shop is a magnificent campground nearby.
A good spot for whitewater paddling next to Ross Lake Trail is Wind River, and Ross Lake Trail is a magnificent spot to visit for more than one day, Longhorn RV & Motel is a magnificent spot to camp nearby. While visiting this area in Wyoming it's a good idea to go hiking too.
