Gavan Hill Trail   Wonderful experience. I wish that we had known that the Harbor Mountain trail was the continuatin of the trail as we would have got a ride to the Harbor Mountain trailhead and hiked back to Sitka in the opposite direction. This part of Alaska is always     a pleasure to visit during hiking season. Getting to Indian River from Gavan Hill Trail is simple; Crescent Bay is very near and is a delightful site to stop at. All our national parks are wonderful locations to explore, and Sitka National Historical Park is no exception. For the duration of the summertime months here at Gavan Hill Trail, high temperatures regularly reach the 60's while overnight lows are usually in the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 30's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Gavan Hill Trail. The high level   of rainfall makes Gavan Hill Trail a relatively wet place. October is the wettest month with most rain, and June on the other hand is the driest.
