Cowan Hollow Trail   My great grandfather and grandmother built a homestead here after being burned out of Georgia by General Sherman's union army.  The ruins of that house are still here.  It has been twenty years since I have visited this area, but I still remember how beautiful it is, and I do plan on returning to visit again soon. While visiting this area in Arkansas it's a good idea to go hiking too. A long drive separates Russellville from Cowan Hollow Trail, but if you're looking for a good place to go hiking this is a good choice. There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Boston Mountains where beautiful scenery awaits you. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Illinois Bayou. The good folks of Pelsor like to hang out close by. Cowan Hollow Trail is good enough to spend more than a day at, Richland Creek wildernes Post is a good local campground. Illinois Bayou - North Fork is a great whitewater spot close to Cowan Hollow   Trail; some close by water includes Cowan Creek. Places like Ozark National Forest are tremendous to visit, and a great place to camp here at Cowan Hollow Trail is Upper Brock Creeek Campground. While staying at Cowan Hollow Trail you could always discover Mose Freeman Hollow.
