Says Halcyon This part of Colorado is always a pleasure to visit during hiking season. There are many wonderful hiking trails in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains where wonderful nature is waiting for you. Pretty far from Espanola you find Elk Creek Trail but it's one of those places where hiking is great. Finally, hiking time is here again, and      Elk Creek Trail in Conejos County, Colorado is a great place to go. If you come at the right time of year, Conejos River offers some good whitewater. Spectacle Lake Campground is a good campground nearby, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Rio Chama. Elk Creek Trail is in the vicinity of Victoria Gulch which is definitely worth going to. Conejos Campground is a great local campground. Elk Creek Trail usually gets much rain. March is when you get the most snow here; June meanwhile is the driest month. High temperatures at Elk Creek Trail throughout the long summer days are in the 60's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's usually   in the 40's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and overnight lows at Elk Creek Trail all through the winter commonly sink into the 0's.
