Red Lake Trail   This is a beautiful hike with spectacular scenery as the payoff.  After a brief uphill the trail levels off.  Wear shoes that are waterproof.  The snow melt off runs through June and sometimes into early July. There are many wonderful hiking trails in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains where you     can absorb the beauty of these mountains. You'll have to go far from Espanola to get to Red Lake Trail but it's one of those places where hiking is great. Hiking in Colorado is such a great thing to do. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Rio de los Pinos. Camping at Trujillo Meadows Campground is always a wonderful experience, and there's whitewater on Rio Brazos for all you thrill seekers. Camping is available at Spectacle Lake Campground. Red Lake Trail gets a good deal of water. March is when you get the most snow here, and June is when it's the driest. At Red Lake Trail through the months of summer highs are in the 60's. Once the sun   is down it sinks down to the 40's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are usually in the 30's with temperatures at Red Lake Trail dipping down into the 0's through winter nights.
