Mattatuck Trail
| | Andy, the trail has been rerouted. I came accross the same dog last year. It runs down the road (west) then north on Wolcott Rd a bit to a pond on the east side. Indian Jack's is down about 1/3 mile near a cliff-side west of the trail. Says George
We hiked the Mattatuck from Buttermilk Falls to the southeast toward Wolcott with the expectation of finding Indian Jack?s Cave and Ledge. As always, Buttermilk was great with several inches of ice |
and numerous icicles this cool morning. About « mile past Buttermilk Falls, the trail connects to the old Tolles-Wolcott Road in the Indian Heaven area. We could not find the trail on the east side of the road. There was a house with
| a mean old dog where we believe the trail goes, but a neighbor recommended not going near the area because of the dog. Never found Indian Jack?s. Says Andy
Connecticut has lots of outdoors activities. Alright, enough of spending all this time inside a building, time to get out, and if you happen to be in Litchfield County of Connecticut, Mattatuck Trail is a great local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. A visit to Black Rock State Park when | |
|
you're here at Mattatuck Trail is never a bad idea, and you'll probably meet some folks from Northfield here. Morris Reservoir Dam is not far at all from Mattatuck Trail. There's so much to do here at Mattatuck Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Black Rock State Park is a pleasant spot for that.
