Richard Trail   This part of Massachusetts has a great deal of available outdoors activities. Gardner State Park is a wonderful place to go if you're at Richard Trail, and a quick trip to Pond Brook is without doubt a perfect idea. You'll meet a lot of folks from Russell here, and get wet paddling on Westfield River. Camping is available at Prospect Mountain Campground; not far from Richard Trail you get some good water scenery at Russell Pond Dam. A perfect location to camp     here at Richard Trail is Wilderness Experience Unlimtd, and beaches are fine and Babbs Beach is no exception. But wait, there's more to do in the neighborhood of Richard Trail. Sodom Brook flows through this region; whitewater paddling is great on Little River. The Gorge is near Richard Trail and is a glorious place. For the period of the long summer days, highs usually are in the 80's at Richard Trail, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 30's while Richard Trail nighttime low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 0's. The high level of rainfall makes Richard Trail a pretty wet spot.
