Art Loeb Trail   Fred, there are no mountains in the south above timberline. There are mountains with no timber, however. Says Spoiler One of my favs. the signs say most difficult, but that’s really only for the hard parts, the rest isn’t that bad ;)...But for real, bring sunscreen, and I would advise against camping on the balds...Wind is non-stop, and you are completely exposed to whatever random weather decides to show up, albeit rain, snow, or saturating mist. There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains where you can truly take in all the beauty of these mountains. You can't spend all your time indoors you need to get out once in a while and Art Loeb Trail in Transylvania County, North Carolina is a perfect place   for getting out. With so many outdoors activities available in North Carolina you'll never get bored. Deep Gap is a pleasant place to spend some time at, and Courthouse Creek is a fine whitewater spot nearby. Having a fine time in the Blue Ridge Mountains is simple.
