Ellicott Rock Trail   Hiked the trail on 11/21/10 and it is still impassable. Got very close to the Chattooga (could literally see it), but could not get to it. Awesome hike, but frustrating bc we could not see the prize of the hike. Says Drew Hiked the trail today, and it was impassable at the Chattooga River, most of the trail had downed trees and limbs which made the 3.5 mile trek very difficult.  Once we reached the river, we literally had nowhere to go but to backtrack.      Until the trail  is cleaned up, I would not recommend this trail to anyone. While visiting this area in North Carolina it's a good idea to go hiking too. Hiking trails are all over the Blue Ridge Mountains, there's no better way to enjoy these mountains. Ellicott Rock Trail is a long drive away from Seneca but it is a great escape from the city. A trip to Ellicott Rock Trail wouldn’t be complete without a spree to nearby Oconee State Park, and you could always explore Jim Harden Gap. If you want a magnificent   time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Soar down the rapids of Chattooga River in a kayak, and you'll meet a lot of people from Highlands here. Holly Branch is a fine local stream. There's so much to do here at Ellicott Rock Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Ammons Branch Campground is a good spot for that.
