Rufus Morgan Trail

Excellent hiking trail with good access and beautiful falls.  Rufus Morgan is a moderately hard short trail up to stunning 60' falls.  Beautiful forest surrounds the trail.  Be careful and tell someone you're going though... there's no on around for miles and if you get lost or hurt, you're on you're own. The waterfall is at the end of the trail and is easy to find. The road up to the trail is just a forest service road, but it is in great condition and there's
a marked parking area (4 spots) with signage at the trailhead.
We went in early August and the trail is not overgrown and in great shape.
Says Scott Williams

Pretty far from Cornelia you find Rufus Morgan Trail but it
is one of many great trails in this area. Alright, enough of spending all this time inside a building, time to get out, and Rufus Morgan Trail in Macon County, North Carolina is such a great place. There are many hiking trails in the Great Smoky Mountains where beautiful scenery awaits you.
North Carolina is a good place for outdoors people. You certainly ought to pop by Nantahala National Forest while you're here at Rufus Morgan Trail, and if you came

for an overnight stay Cartoogechaye Creek is a wonderful place to camp. Just can't get enough of the Great Smoky Mountains. Left Prong Rough Fork is near Rufus Morgan Trail and is always a bliss to visit; if you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Nantahala River.
