The Military Road   Hiking in New Mexico is such a great thing to do. Spending too much time indoors got you down? No problem, The Military Road in Grant County, New Mexico is just the place. A long drive separates Silver City from The Military Road, but there's great natural beauty awaiting you along it. There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Black Range where you can absorb the beauty of these mountains. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you     then we recommend Gila River. Railroad Spring is always fun to check out; you can stay the night at Upper End Campground. A journey to Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument is recommended, and The Military Road is a site with many visitors from Silver City. Mesa Campground is a good campground nearby, and Gila National Forest is a stunning place any time of year. The Military Road is commonly a quite waterless place. The month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation. At The Military Road during the months of summer highs are in the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's.
