Smays Trail   It's a long drive from State College to Smays Trail but it sure is a nice trail. Hitting the trails is always a fun thing to do and Smays Trail in Centre County, Pennsylvania is a perfect place for getting out. Smays Trail is near McDonald Hollow which is beyond doubt worth visiting. Snow Shoe Park is a great local campground; the fine people of Sandy Ridge like to hang out nearby. Moshannon State Forest is a wonderful forest area close to Smays Trail, and     do go to Smays Run while you're here at Smays Trail. There are some delightful whitewater spots on Black Moshannon Creek, and Smays Trail is a pleasant spot to visit for more than one day, Hemlock Acres Campground is a pleasant spot to camp nearby. Don't forget to take a fine little trip to Shirks Run, and there's whitewater on Moshannon River for all you adrenaline kick people. What a site this is for outdoors folks. The high level of rain makes Smays Trail a pretty wet site. June is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is January. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Smays Trail. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 50's.
