Bald River Trail   In the Great Smoky Mountains there are many great hiking trails where you can absorb the beauty of these mountains. Finally, hiking time is here again, and Bald River Trail in Monroe County, Tennessee is just what you need. Bald River Trail is located quite a long drive from Athens but trails like these are great. This part of Tennessee is always a pleasure to visit during hiking season. Visit Bald River if you're here at Bald River Trail, and there are     some fine whitewater spots on Tellico River. That right there is lots of cool stuff already but it goes on, the Great Smoky Mountains has it all. Tellico Plains Koa is a wonderful local campground, and if you come at the right time of year, Tellico River offers some good whitewater. Take a side trip to Big Cove Branch, and a journey to Bald River Trail wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Bald River Falls. Why not camp at McNabb Creek - Cherokee National Forest since you're here at Bald River Trail. Fort Loudoun State Park is a tremendous spot to take a look at, and while you're here, you might as well explore Papaw Cove. Now, you may think that's loads but there's even more enjoyable   stuff to do here at Bald River Trail. While you're here at Bald River Trail you will meet lots of people from close by Tellico Plains. At Bald River Trail during the summertime highs are in the 80's, and the night is slightly colder of course, generally in the 60's.
