Take a side journey to Pole Knob Branch, and if you're going to from Townsend, you won't be the only one. Why not camp at Riverview Campground if you're here at Russell Field Trail; a pleasant spree to Russell Field is a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Smoky Mountains National Park is rather in the neighborhood of Russell Field Trail. The high level of rainfall makes Russell Field Trail a rather wet place. Most of the rain falls during March; October is when it's the driest. Throughout the warm months here at Russell Field Trail, high temperatures generally get into the 80's.
