| | Missing Hiker - Uintas Highline Trail Says Missing Hiker
The U.S. Forrest Service last attention to this trail was in 1994/1995 and the trail markings in many places is all but non-existent. Portions of the trail---particularly in the meadows areas have been overgrown and rock cairn markers, where they do exist, are often overgrown and difficult to find. Do not attempt this trail without detailed terrain maps and GPS equipment and the ability to use both. |
It would also be a good idea to carry a satellite phone (rentals are available) as there is no cell phone signal anywhere along the route from the Mirror Lake trailhead on the West all the way to the Chepeta lake trailhead on the

There are many hiking trails in the Uinta Mountains where beautiful scenery awaits you. Highline Trail is a long drive away from Evanston but when you hike it you're always having a good time. No chance of getting bored in Utah if you like the outdoors. Spending too much time indoors got you down? No problem, Highline Trail in Duchesne County, Utah is the outdoors at it's best. wet paddling on Duchesne River. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Uinta Mountains. Why not camp at Butterfly Campground since you're here at Highline Trail, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Rock Creek. This ski area is always cool.
